Singers with Soul and Style We Admire

Posted on 25 July 2009

In the era of one hit wonders and auto-tune assisted club bangers, there a few artists that project true soul and style and that keeps us wanting more.

Amerie

We were introduced to Amerie in 2002 with her first hit “Why Don’t We Fall in Love” and her second album yielded the go-go inspired “1Thing”. Since then her music continues to evolve as well as her style. Amerie’s next album “Love & War” will drop in August and we can’t wait to see what she’ll be wearing while we’re already loving her single and video for “Why R U?”.

Next on our list is Chrisette Michele whose golden voice first came to our attention in 2006 on Jay Z’s “Lost Ones”. Her debut album “I Am” released in 2007, and gave us a soulful trip down memory lane reminding us of the singers that our parents loved. Chrisette Michele released her second album this year, “Epiphany” which offers more of her soulful sound and reveals her more fashion forward style. We are also loving her new haircut.

Now that we’ve mentioned the female singers that inspire us, we have to mention the male singers that make our hearts swoon with voices and style.

MaxwellWe loved Maxwell’s voice and his wild hair when he sung his breakthrough hit “Sumthin, Sumthin” in 1996. Five albums and 13 years later we still love his voice, his style and we’re digging his new low hair cut. All of which are exhibited on his eagerly anticipated and recently released album, “BLACKsummers’ night”.

Eric Roberson

As an independent artist, Eric Roberson’s sound and style has been known to true underground music lovers for years. Over time, as his fan base grew, his name and music has become more recognizable. His debut album “Esoteric” released in 2001 helped fuel the birth of the neo-soul movement.

Since then, Eric has continued to produce and market his wonderful music independently, yielding four albums over the past 6 years, his next album “Music Fan First” is set release in late August.
